Jo Hassall
Jo works from a converted attic in her house in Yorkshire. She has fine views over IIkley Moor and is surrounded by floor-to-ceiling shelves stacked with books, boxes of photographs and old postcards, kitsch nick-nacks, the flotsam and jetsam of modern digital technology and stacks of different papers. She works with a layered mix of drawing, photography, painting and collage, 'hands-on to start and then applied digitally' she adds. She draws inspiration from her surroundings as well as her travels - 'I'm inspired by where I live and where I've been,' she says, 'by people I've met along the way and the stories they have to tell...'
